We’ve covered the pint-sized Baojun Yep mini electric crossover. It’s also known as the Baojun Yue, and it’s caught the attention of many because, well, just look at it.
One of the likely reasons why it’s making noise is because the world is going crazy over retro-looking SUVs. Just take a look at the latest offerings from Ford, Toyota, and Jeep.

That said, the Yep’s three-door body isn’t the most practical around. Yes, we do like these and it’s always a treat to see manufacturers hanging on to them, but more doors simply make life a bit easier. In response, the Baojun Yep has been stretched and given an extra pair of doors this year.
Don’t worry, the three-door model will still be available, at least if you live in China. Simply put, it’s for those who always wanted a Yep, but are looking for the practicality of a larger (but still tiny) crossover.
With that, the stretched Yep measures 3,996mm long, 1,760mm wide, 1,720mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,560mm. For comparison, the three-door version is a downright minuscule 3,381mm long, 1,681mm wide, 1,721mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,110mm.
So, it’s not just longer but also taller and wider. Baojun claims the passenger area is 67 percent larger than the three-door model and it has a cargo capacity of 385 liters. It’s also worth mentioning that the dashboard design is unique to this model and simply not the three-door model’s panel stuck inside.
Given that it’s bigger and, thus heavier, the Yep Plus comes with a beefier electric motor arrangement. The motor now pushes out 100hp and, more importantly, 180Nm of torque. Because of its larger battery, the range is rated at 401km under the China light-duty vehicle test cycle (CLTC). Realistically, we might be looking at 280 to 350km.
Still, that’s a huge improvement over the three-door’s figures. For comparison, the smaller model makes just 67hp and 140Nm of torque, while its range is approximately 100km less.
Prices? In China, it ranges from 93,800 yuan to 103,800 yuan. Converted to local currency, that’s around P746,000 to P826,000, local taxes excluded.
