Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC), the official importer and distributor of BMW in the Philippines, has introduced the 2-Series Gran Tourer, kicking off the BMW Roadshow 2017 this weekend.
The BMW 2-Series Gran Tourer is the world’s first premium subcompact model to offer a third row. At 214mm longer and 53mm taller than the 2-Series Active Tourer, along with a longer wheelbase of 2,780mm, there's a considerable increase in interior space. The second row bench can be adjusted fore and aft, while cargo volume extends from 560 liters to 1,820 liters with the rear seats folded down. The second row has a 50:50 split, while the third row folds completely flat into the floor.
All that space is owed to the carmaker’s front-wheel drive platform combined with transversely front-mounted engines, first seen on the Active Tourer. Under the hood is the familiar 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine, developing 136hp and 220Nm. Thanks to TwinPower turbo technology, the unit delivers both performance and efficiency. It’s coupled to a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Just like other BMWs in the lineup, Driving Experience Control with Eco Pro, Sport, and Comfort modes comes standard.
Upon launch, the variant available is the 218i in base trim, priced at P2.79 million. No word yet if other trims will be available.
You can catch the BMW 2-Series Gran Tourer at the Powerplant Mall today until Sunday (October 29), November 10 to 12 at the Lucky Chinatown Main Mall, November 16 to 19 at the SM Mall of Asia, and November 24 to 26 at the Alabang Town Center Plaza.
