A fleet of armored BMW 7-Series vehicles is currently in the Philippines for the 2026 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit. Specifically, there are 25 760i Protection units on local roads, and these are exclusively reserved for heads of state.

These sedans are part of a larger 125-vehicle fleet that BMW Philippines is managing for the event. Other models include 70 plug-in hybrid X3 vehicles and 30 i5 EVs—all of which are used to shuttle around summit participants. After the event, these vehicles may be sold to the general public at discounted prices.

However, the special 7-Series models will soon be returning to Germany. From there, the units will be deployed to a new assignment. If you were hoping to purchase one for yourself, fret not, as BMW will sell you one for P50 million.

Yep, 50 big ones. For context, a fully electric 7-Series costs P10.39 million, while the hybrid versions range from P7.99 million to P8.99 million. But, this vehicle might just be worth its weight if protection and safety is what you value.

Speaking of weight, the 760i Protection tips the scales at almost 4,000kg. That is almost 1,500kg more than the i7 EV. That extra heft is largely due to the amount of armor that has been added to the vehicle. BMW says that this 7-Series can withstand an explosive blast from every side, including the underbody. An extra layer of protection has also been added to the roof, making the 760i resistant to grenades.

The bulletproofed windows have also been thickened to 72mm, which should be able to survive a shot from a rifle. BMW then added flashing lights throughout the vehicle’s shell. And supporting the entire vehicle are 20-inch run-flat tires and a modified suspension to help carry all that weight.

In terms of power, BMW has a turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 on deck. It’s rated for 523hp and 750Nm of torque, with a top speed of 210km. The powertrain is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and this 7-Series is also said to be the only production armored vehicle with all-wheel steering.

What do you think of the P50 million price tag now? Sound off in the comments.
