For those in the market for a BMW X5, they might want to consider the newest addition to the local lineup. To kick off 2025, BMW Philippines is introducing the xDrive50e plug-in hybrid to the range, giving customers the option between diesel and electrified powertrains.

The X5 has been offered as a plug-in hybrid before, but the current generation is the first for the Philippines. Curious about the stats? We’ve got the full details.

The BMW X5 xDrive50e combines two powertrains in one. The 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-six makes 313hp and 450Nm of torque, while the electric motor puts out 197hp and 280Nm. The result is a combined output of 489hp and 700Nm of torque. With that, this electrified luxury crossover SUV can do the 0 to 100kph sprint in just 4.8 seconds and can be driven electric drive alone for up to 140kph.

For its electric drive system, it comes with a 25.7kWh battery for longer range. It gives X5 an electric-only range of up to 118km per full charge. With a full charge, fuel economy figures of over 100km/L are possible, while official figures claim 10.41km/L in mixed conditions.

This variant only comes in M Sport form meaning more aggressive elements on the outside. The PHEV version then rides on 21-inch alloy wheels exclusive to this variant. Also included here is the Iconic Glow grille to help it stand out on the road.

Inside, the M Sport package adds sport seats with adjustable bolsters. There’s also extended leather trims, while the open-pore woodgrain trim is a unique touch. For audio, there’s the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System, while quad-zone climate control keeps everyone onboard cozy and comfortable.

The new X5 benefits from the BMW Live Cockpit Plus display. Its consists of a wide, curved screen display that houses the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and the 14.9-inch infotainment screen. The infotainment system is now powered by iDrive Operating System 8.5 that features a new interface, enhanced commands, and greater flexibility. Other features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as wireless charging.

Advanced driver assist systems are care of BMW’s Driving Assistant Professional package. It includes Highway Assistant, adaptive cruise control with steering assist, lane keep assist, active blind spot detection, autonomous emergency braking, and even a drive recorder. Like most local BMW models, it also comes standard with Automatic Park Assistant and Reverse Assistant that automatically steers the vehicle over the previously driven path.
