A lot of machinery revealed last week in Monterey was incredibly worthy—stuff like the S1, the Revuelto SV, the Valen, and so on—but none can claim to be as sinister, and therefore as cool, as this. For this be the Brabus Bodo Cabriolet, and all it now requires is a neon-lit electro-synth soundtrack.
Keen eyes will recognize this as the convertible version of the Brabus Bodo Coupe we saw only a few months ago, and so as night follows—in Brabus’ world—even more night, we have a V12 cabrio with more power than it knows what to do with.
Because there’s 986hp on board this open-air battleship, produced by Aston Martin’s 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 (remember, this is a Vanquish underneath), and delivered to the rear wheels via an eight-speed auto.
As such, it’s able to chalk off 0-100kph in 3sec, 0-299kph in 23.9sec, and a top speed of 359kph. Use extra-strong hair glue for this one.

There’s also the possibility of storing up to three more humans on board, too, because it’s a 2+2, but...hmm, the word ‘cozy’ springs to mind. That said, you’ll be too scared to care, because like the Coupe, the Bodo Cab looks absolutely, brilliantly menacing.
The body is made entirely of carbon fiber, shaped into terrifying forms and covered entirely in black (or Silk Stone, above, if you want less menace). There’s an insulated, electrically folding fabric roof, and while it doesn’t look as cohesive as the Coupe with the top closed, roof down, it looks quite dandy indeed.
Naturally, the rear deck is a little flatter for this incarnation, but the cool rear light design remains, and there’s a neat adjustable carbon-fiber rear spoiler integrated into the back that deploys automatically for downforce.
Other nods to aero include the air ducts either side of the V12 and in the front apron, plus a front spoiler. But...it’s a V12 cabrio. You won’t be needing any of that.
It comes with a new set of 22-inch Brabus monoblock wheels wrapped in special Pirellis, KW suspension, a nose lift, lots of driver and safety assistance, a stainless steel exhaust, and the same bespoke, leather-filled interior. Otherwise, it’s as per the Coupe. Which means: big, imposing, scary.
“The Brabus Bodo is both the next step for the brand and a tribute to my father, Bodo Buschmann,” said Brabus boss and Bodo’s son, Constantin Buschmann. “I must have talked to him about a project like this a hundred times. A large, attitude-forward gran turismo that truly embodies the Brabus DNA while also possessing a completely unique identity of its own.
“In the end, we had to work eight years to make this dream a reality—and now, we’re taking it one step further with a bold, progressive cabriolet designed in every detail as he would have driven it.”
As such, just 77 of these things are being built—on top of the 77 Coupes—with a base price of €1,077,000 before tax (almost P90 million as of writing). And personalization. Soundtrack not included.
