The BYD Atto 2 may soon be making its Philippine debut, as it has just received its homologation papers from the Land Transportation Office.
Like its bigger sibling, the Atto 3, this crossover packs an all-electric powerplant in a crossover-style body. If BYD Cars Philippines and ACMobility are, in fact, bringing the Atto 2 over, it will have big shoes to fill as the Atto 3 has been the brand’s best-selling EV in the country. And while it’s probably irrelevant, the Atto 2 looks starkly similar to the crowd-favorite Toyota Fortuner, which may strike a chord with the Filipino car buyers.

However, according to the LTO documents, the Atto 2 is actually closer in size to the Toyota Yaris Cross, entering the popular subcompact-crossover segment.

The LTO filed documents for two BYD Atto 2 variants, Dynamic and Premium.
The base Dynamic spec will likely receive the most basic of BYD’s safety features. Regular cruise control and 360-degree cameras should be equipped, along with a smaller battery for the powertrain. While we don’t have the local numbers yet, over in China, the base Atto 2 gets a 32kWh battery, which should be good for 300km of driving. That said, the LTO papers list range at 280km.
The top-spec Premium variant will probably have the full suite of BYD’s advanced driver-assist system—namely, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot detection, and more. The LTO papers also detail that the Premium Atto 2 has a longer range of 380km and a heavier weight of 1,550kg as opposed to the Dynamic’s 1,430kg. That is likely from the bigger battery, which is listed at 45.1kWh in China.

In terms of pricing, these two variants should come in under the Atto 3’s price range, which starts at P1.598 million for the Dynamic variant and P1.798 million for the Premium. If BYD Cars Philippines and ACMobility decide to bring in the Atto 2, it will give buyers much more flexibility in choosing a brand-new BYD EV.
This model could also very well come closer in terms of pricing to the BYD Dolphin, which sits at just P1.398 million. Notably, the Dolphin is advertised with a longer driving range than the Atto 2 Premium.
