Chevrolet Philippines is in the middle of a transformation. Now under new management, it aims to release several new models that can, hopefully, expand the brand’s appeal to a greater variety of customers.
Perhaps aware of the country’s love for high-riding seven-seaters, Chevrolet Philippines has shown a teaser of its Toyota Innova fighter. HARI, the new distributor, calls it a crossover-MPV. Think Mitsubishi Xpander Cross…but bigger.

The company isn’t saying what model it is just yet, but we’re pretty much certain that it’s the all-new Chevrolet Captiva. If the name sounds familiar, it was once used for a compact crossover sold here from 2007 to 2016. Chevrolet then revived the name in 2019 as a badge-engineered version of the Baojun 530 for Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. It's also known as the Wuling Almaz in Indonesia and Brunei and the MG Hector in India.
No specs have been given yet, but Chevrolet Philippines did share a few details about it. The local-spec Chevrolet Captiva will have 360-degree view cameras, a panoramic sunroof, a digital driver’s display, a vertical touchscreen infotainment system, and ‘up to 1,709 liters of cargo space.’

It was also mentioned that this crossover-MPV will use a 1.5-liter turbocharged gas engine. Figures weren’t provided at the time of writing, but based on the Captiva that’s currently being sold in the Middle East, we’re expecting 144hp and 255Nm of torque. That engine is then mated to a CVT.
We will know its full specifications and details at launch, but we’ll keep you updated should we get more info.
