Japanese bodykit manufacturer DAMD has been known to create some wild retro conversion accessories, specializing in small boxy cars. You may have seen some of the garage’s many kits for the Suzuki Jimny. From its Land Rover Defender and Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon-inspired parts, to rally hero-inspired kits in partnership with OZ Racing wheels—DAMD knows how to bring out the best in the Jimny’s design.
One of the garage’s most recent projects is another small Suzuki. This time, the Spacia Gear, a hybrid kei car exclusively sold in Japan. The microvan features round headlights, a boxy frame, and a two-tone colorway separating the roof from the rest of the body. It already has a rather retro base look, and the DAMD bodykit enhances this even further.
Called the Spacia Gear NOCT, the bodykit adds a ‘face change’ that replaces the black headlight bezels with body-colored ones, replaces the front grille and bumper, and adds matte silver accents for that retro-rugged look. The garage has also fitted its Cantabile classic wheels, and an industrial-designed steel roof rack with wooden accents.

The package can be purchased with the NOCT face-change kit for JPY128,000 (P48,366) unpainted, while adding paint will cost a total of JPY187,000 (P70,658). If you opt for the face-change kit with the Cantabile wheels, that will cost JPY220,000 (P83,095) unpainted, and JPY279,000 (P105,369) with paint. Lastly, if you want to add the roof rack, that will bump up the total price by JPY59,000 (P22,292) for the full-size rack and JPY56,000 (P21,140) for the half-size version. All these prices are exclusive of tax.
DAMD’s retro-style bodykits fitted on everyday cars like the Spacia Gear have a certain charm to them. It’s no wonder the garage is a perennial favorite in major car shows in Japan like the Tokyo Auto Salon. It’s too bad that the Spacia Gear isn’t available in the Philippines. But on the bright side, DAMD makes a selection of bodykits for other cars in our market, such as the aforementioned Jimny, the Toyota GT86, and various Mazda models.
