Just earlier this week, we noted how busy Nissan has been despite the carmaker’s recent struggles. Now, just days after confirming the imminent launch of the Navara in Australia, it has unveiled two new models in China courtesy of its joint venture with Dongfeng: the N6 and the Teana.

The N6 is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle and is the first of its kind to be built on Dongfeng Nissan’s new energy technology architecture. It features a very futuristic design, and looks more EV-like than it does a typical gasoline-powered vehicle. It’s 4,831mm long, making it longer than a Honda Civic but shorter than a Toyota Camry.

The Nissan N6 PHEV packs a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with a 21.2kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery. Nissan says more details about the N6 will be shared in the coming weeks and towards the start of sales.

The new Teana, meanwhile, now looks less Almera-like and more akin to the new Ariya and Leaf. While Nissan didn’t share any information on mechanical changes whatsoever, it confirmed that the Teana will now get Huawei’s HarmonySpace5.0 smart cockpit and ‘SOUND’ audio system. Like the N6, this will go on sale in China towards year-end, during which we’ll have more details about the car.

“Under our Re:Nissan plan, we are redefining what Nissan delivers today and beyond,” said Nissan president and CEO Ivan Espinosa. “It’s about strengthening our core, reigniting Nissan’s heartbeat, and creating products that inspire excitement and trust. It is about a sharper, more focused product strategy, a stronger brand, and a renewed commitment to our customers.

“Integral to this transformation is China—an essential market whose speed, technological leadership, and customer insights are setting the pace for the global auto industry.”

Your thoughts on these new Nissans, readers? Should the brand bring these models over to the Philippines?
