Preorders have been opened for the new Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700 in China, and the offer sheet is interesting, to say the least. There are a total of six variants available to buyers, with varying powertrains and performance capabilities between them.
The lineup starts with the Galaxy Cruiser 700 1.5T 2WD Explorer Edition, which, as its name suggests, uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged mill to charge the onboard battery. It is then outfitted with two motors and can drive up to 305km on just electric power.
On the other end of the stable is the Galaxy Cruiser 700 2.0T Tri-Motor All-Wheel Drive Peak Edition—what a mouthful. With this variant, performance should be boosted thanks to the additional motor and an upgraded drivetrain. There is also a satellite communication system and a water-wading sensing system. Oh, and suede lining. Everything but the kitchen sink, huh, Geely?

Now, there is technically another configuration above that triple-motor behemoth, but it seems like it’s targeted toward more particular buyers. It’s called the Galaxy Cruiser 700 Land and Sea Version, as it comes with a diffusion and nasal oxygen supply system and a central integrated gas source. Geely also says this version can perform the moose test at 80kph. We wouldn’t be surprised if there was an actual kitchen sink on this one.
Let’s talk prices. As mentioned, these are available for preorders, with the range starting at RMB199,800 (around P1.86 million) and going all the way up to RMB269,000 (around P2.52 million) for the tri-motor trim. But those who need that oxygen supply system will need to shell out RMB389,000 (around P3.64 million). It’s worth remembering that power output upwards of 1,000hp is expected on all variants.
While local Geely offices are preparing to launch the seven-seater Monjaro EM-i, those competitive prices tell us the Galaxy Cruiser 700 could make a splash in the Philippines. Should Jetour and its GAIA G700 look out?
