Is the Honda Civic hatchback's Thai launch good news for us?

The current Honda Civic is awesome, isn't it? If you're a regular reader of this site, then you'd know that it comes in hatchback form in other parts of the world. Just recently, the hatch was officially launched in neighboring Thailand. But what does that mean for us?

In case you're not aware, a lot of our cars come from the Land Of Smiles. That includes most of the Honda units you see in your neighborhood. So when a new car or variant is launched over there, it's reasonable to assume that we just might be next on the list.

And there's quite a bit to get excited about with this car. It's got the features we love about the sedan, like the sleek lines and C-shaped headlights. There are new add-ons, too, like the slick black honeycomb grille next to the foglights and on the rear bumper. Like the top-of-the-line RS, the hatchback has a 1.5-liter VTEC turbo mill. The Thai version does 173hp and 220NM. Since it's a hatch, you can expect a bit more cargo room in the rear. 

Is the Civic hatch's launch in Thailand a good sign for us? Let's hope.
