Top Gear Philippines

Good news for car shoppers looking to buy the Honda Civic. Honda Cars Philippines has just announced that it will be equipping the base 1.8E CVT variant of the popular sedan with a couple of new convenience upgrades, further adding to the appeal of our reigning Car of the Year.

In addition to the Civic 1.8E's remote engine start function (which switches on the engine to cool the cabin before entering), it will now come equipped with power folding side mirrors and a speed sensing automatic door lock. The latter bolts all of the car's doors when it reaches a driving speed of 15kph—pretty convenient if you're the forgetful type. This is on top of the car's walk-away auto lock feature which locks the doors when the key is 2.5m away from the vehicle.

There are no upgrades performance-wise. The Civic 1.8E still packs the same engine capable of 139hp and 174Nm mated to a CVT. While we could've done without power side mirrors, the price increase isn't substantial and the aforementioned features make the vehicle just that much more desirable. Below is the updated price for the Honda Civic 1.8E CVT:

* Honda Civic 1.8E CVT – P1.103 million

* Honda Civic 1.8E CVT Modulo – P1.158 million

You can contact your dealer or head on to your nearest showroom for more information. So, does a more convenient Honda Civic appeal to you?
