Hongqi is keen to grow its presence even further in the Philippines. At the moment, it currently has a mix of crossovers sedans, and even a van. There are also a few EVs in the mix for good measure. One thing it doesn’t have at the moment is an entry-level crossover.
However, that’s been rectified following the launch of a new model at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show. The model in question is called the Hongqi HS3.

The HS3 is the stepping stone in Hongqi crossover ownership, slotting below the HS5. But even if it’s the smallest model in the range, it’s not exactly tiny. At over 4.6 meters long, it’s more a compact model than a subcompact.
Design-wise, it follows the company’s design language with its dynamic headlights and prominent upright grille. Lines and creases adorn the flanks, while Y-shaped taillights are seen at the back.

Inside, a tablet-like touchscreen adorns the center console. Now typical in its class, there’s a configurable instrument cluster on board. This being a Hongqi model, dash tops are soft to touch and the seats are trimmed in leather.
In terms of safety, it comes equipped with advanced driver assist systems. It includes autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and blind spot detection, to name a few.

Only one version of the Hongqi HS3 will be offered in the Philippines. It’s powered by a 1.5-liter turbo engine that makes 168hp and 258Nm of torque. It then shifts with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Final pricing will be announced soon, but this model will eventually make its way to local showrooms.
