After debuting in China in November 2025, the all-new Hyundai Elexio is now headed for Australia. This comes as the latest product and export from Beijing Hyundai, the Korean carmaker’s China-based manufacturing plant.

Ahead of its launch Down Under, the fully electric crossover received a five-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). However, while the rating applies to Elexio units built from October 2025 and beyond, units for the Australian market have specially altered steering and suspension systems.

It is unclear if these tweaks had any effect on ANCAP’s testing, but it is something to take note of. If Hyundai decides to bring the Elexio to the Philippines, it probably will not receive the same upgrades.

Back to the safety rating. The crossover scored the highest in Adult Occupant Protection and Child Occupant Protection, scoring 88% and 86%, respectively. ANCAP noted that the Elexio provided good to adequate safety on the adult and child dummies during the crash tests.

The car then scored an 85% in Safety Assists, thanks to its advanced driver-assistance systems and its automatic emergency braking functions. It would have scored higher if supplementary airbags had been added to the driver and front passenger sides of the vehicle.

Finally, the Elexio earned 77% in Vulnerable Road User Protection, which measures the vehicle’s impact on other road users. Its automatic emergency braking system was also graded here, along with its lane-keeping sensors.

Would you want to see the Elexio in the Philippines? If brought over, it would be positioned as a more affordable option against the likes of the Tesla Model Y.
