Hyundai has, without a doubt, one of the most impressive EV lineups across the globe, and we consider ourselves lucky that we have plenty of them to choose from here in the Philippines. But while they’re nice and all, there’s something that the Korean carmaker lacks: More affordable options.
Enter the all-new Elexio. This is Hyundai’s newest electric vehicle in China launched in collaboration with its joint venture Beijing Hyundai. It’s made in China, but it’s clearly a Hyundai—it’s built on the same E-GMP platform that underpins the Ioniq models.

Design-wise, it also fits perfectly in the Hyundai stable. It looks similar to the Ioniq 9 and the Kona. It’s evidently a Hyundai. It promises 722km of all-electric range with its 88.1kWh battery, and it can charge from 30-80% in just 27 minutes. It can seat five people and has a 506-liter trunk that expands to 1,540 liters as needed.

The Elexio is also equipped with all the bells and whistles, including a 27-inch 4K widescreen display with an innovative Cyber Eye heads-up display. It also has advanced AI capabilities with a system powered by a Snapdragon 8295 chip.
“For the Chinese market, Hyundai leveraged the proven success of its EV-dedicated E-GMP platform and integrated localized Chinese technologies to successfully launch Elexio,” said Hyundai Motor Company head of China business division Ickkyun Oh. “This is a dedicated EV tailor-made for Chinese consumers, and the first model developed by Hyundai under the guidance of our ‘In China, For China, To Global’ strategy.”

This launch is huge for the global market, as Hyundai’s electrification efforts in China will be felt across the region. With EVs now being produced in that market, this could result in us having more affordable Hyundai new energy vehicles in the future.
“Hyundai has evolved beyond a traditional automotive enterprise to become a global high-tech company dedicated to providing intelligent mobility solutions,” added Oh. “Hyundai Motor promises to keep pace with the development of the Chinese automotive industry and meet the high expectations of Chinese consumers. The company pledges to take firm root in the Chinese market and has full confidence in its future in China.”
Exciting stuff ahead.
