Under the hood is a direct-injected, naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter boxer engine sending power to the Symmetrical AWD. Providing fuel efficiency and ease of use, the engine is mated to a seven-speed CVT that can be manually manipulated.
The highlight feature of the new Forester is the EyeSight technology. It can automatically activate the brakes and manage the throttle if an imminent collision is detected by its two forward-facing cameras. The system is integrated into the adaptive cruise control, which allows the driver to follow a lead vehicle from a safe distance.
When driving on challenging terrain, the X-Mode has several settings that can be conveniently selected with a dial. Gravel, mud, and floods will not unsettle the car’s handling if the proper mode is chosen. Hill-descent function comes standard, so tackling steep slopes become effortless. Sharp turns when avoiding road hazards can make a driver lose control of the car, but if it the vehicle is equipped with a torque-vectoring system, the brakes can be applied to only one or two wheels to regain directional control.
The impressive array of safety systems make the latest Forester an ideal family car. Its wider gate opening and roomier interior provide ample legroom and cargo space. Passenger amenities like USB charging ports, a large multifunction LCD, and aircon vents for rear passengers, make each ride luxurious.
The introduction of the all-new Forester as a lifestyle-oriented vehicle is apt for Motor Image PH, the distributor of Subaru in the country. As part of the company’s planned expansion, 16 new dealerships will augment the existing network in the Philippines in the coming year or two.
The company, together with Motul, has also jointly announced a two-year partnership. These Motul-formulated oils and fluids will be available at local Subaru dealerships and priced competitively.
