Prepping for the end of days? Not convinced by the whole “go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all this to blow over” plan? Well, perhaps you might be interested in this new Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster Chassis Cab.
You see, this is basically the Grenadier as a blank canvas. It uses the Quartermaster pickup truck as its base but leaves the rear of the ladder frame completely exposed to allow for “a wide range of body-building options for commercial, emergency and leisure use.” Proper go-anywhere camper conversion, anyone?

The Chassis Cab shares the same 3,227mm wheelbase as the Quartermaster (305mm longer than the ‘Station Wagon’ SUV) and gets the same double cab, five-seat interior setup too. There are the familiar BMW-sourced 3.0-liter turbo straight-six engines in petrol or diesel forms, plus heavy-duty beam axles, a two-speed transfer case and up to three locking differentials.
It’ll be built on the same line as the rest of the Grenadiers in Hambach, France, and Ineos says it is targeting ‘specialist conversion companies and commercial body builders.’
“The Grenadier’s body-on-frame construction already provides huge versatility for customisation, and we know from customer configurations that our vehicles are being used equally between commercial and leisure users,” says George Ratcliffe, Ineos Automotive’s commercial director.
“The ‘blank canvas’ Chassis Cab variant allows even greater versatility, from the basic trayback for agricultural use through recovery and emergency services to tourism, presenting an ideal platform for an overlanding camper.”
So, anyone already drawing up their plans?
