One look at the spec sheet and you’ll realize that there’s no shortage of Isuzu D-Max variants. In the Philippines alone, there are 12 to choose from in various body styles, drivetrains, and engines.
That number is much higher when you take a look at Isuzu Australia’s D-Max trim level list. And now, there’s another one joining that range. Introducing the Isuzu D-Max Tour Mate.

The Tour Mate is a limited edition model of the D-Max LS-U, the equivalent of the LS in the Philippines when it was still being offered here. The difference is, Australia’s LS-U packs a 3.0-liter engine with 189hp and 450Nm. It's also available with either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
So, what does the Tour Mate bring to the table? According to Isuzu Australia, it adds all of the ‘commonly selected’ optional extras into one value oriented package.

Fitted standard are a 12-pin tow bar wiring harness and 50mm tow ball that also includes an electric brake controller. It also comes with a camper shell on the bed with dual lift-up side windows. Extended side mirrors are also part of the package, along with window visors.
It is said that all the options combined cost around 9,000 Australian dollars (AUD) or about P340,000. But with the Tour Mate package, it adds just 2,000 to 3,000 AUD (P76,000 to P114,000) to the price of the standard LS-U.

Interested? You’ll have to go to Australia to buy it. That said, it would be great to have a similar model make its way to the Philippine market. It should be a good way to add greater value to the local D-Max lineup.
