By now, you probably know that the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) is set for October 24 to 27. As always, there will be loads of new car launched, model previews, and perhaps a few concept cars sprinkled in.

It’s still a couple of months away, but Isuzu has already revealed a major detail about its booth. According to the company, it will show off a ‘carbon neutral vehicle’ at PIMS 2024.

‘Carbon neutral vehicle’, you ask? Well, it’s another way of saying electric or electrified vehicle. Given that Isuzu has shown off the D-Max MHEV prototype and D-Max EV concept, it could be one or the other. However, Isuzu Philippines Executive Vice President, Shojiro Sakoda, dropped a major hint during a press conference.

“For the Philippine market, we recognize the growing interest in electric vehicles, and we are carefully evaluating the best approach to introduce our EV models here. Our primary focus is ensuring that the infrastructure, support systems, and consumer readiness are in place to provide the best customer experience,” said the executive.

With that in mind, there’s a good chance that it’s the Isuzu D-Max EV that will make an appearance during the motor show. It was first shown during the Bangkok International Motor Show back in March, alongside the mild-hybrid version of the pickup.

If so, there are a couple of details worth noting about the electric D-Max. For starters, it’s four-wheel drive thanks to a dual-motor arrangement. Those motors then get their energy from a 66.9kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The e-Axle setup gives this pickup a total output of 174hp and 325Nm of torque. Isuzu claims a top speed of ‘over 130kph’ and a payload capacity of 1,000kg.

Isuzu Mu-X RS 2025

That’s all Isuzu is saying for now. Of course, it could also use the show as a launch venue for other models. Fingers crossed we also get to see the new-look Mu-X in its booth, too.
