Omoda and Jaecoo Philippines has confirmed that the Jaecoo J5 hybrid crossover will make its Philippine debut in 2026. According to the two Chinese brands, the J5 has been successful across Southeast Asia, winning awards and racking up orders in Thailand and Indonesia.

Locally, the crossover will be the first hybrid offering from Omoda and Jaecoo. It will join the plug-in hybrid J7 and the fully electric EJ6, along with the combustion-engined Omoda C5 and its EV counterpart, the E5.

As with other vehicles in its stable, the J5 is targeted towards younger car buyers and drivers. However, Jaecoo has also assembled this crossover for one particular demographic—pet owners.

Yes, you heard that right. This car features a “TUV SUD-certified pet-friendly interior made of antibacterial and scratch-resistant materials.” The Chinese carmaker also mounted special boarding steps for easier entry of four-legged passengers, a pet-feeding system, and trunk barriers to keep fur babies secure in the back.

Powering the car is a hybrid system rated for 221hp and 295Nm of torque. Jaecoo has not revealed the exact battery size and displacement of this electrified powertrain, but we should get the official figures soon. Fuel efficiency is advertised at 18.87km/L, with a driving range of over 1,000km.

Pricing has also not been disclosed, but the brand has compared this crossover to entry-level vehicles. With that, we can expect competitive costing, but we’ll wait for Jaecoo’s official word.
