True to its social media teaser last month, Jaecoo has brought out the J5 EV for preview at the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show. This is the EV counterpart to the currently available hybrid known as the J5 SHS-H.

While we reported three variants on its way to our market based on DOE recognition, it looks like just two will be available: Standard and Max. Both trims will share the same core specs like battery, motor, and drivetrain; the Max edges ahead with additional amenities.

The J5 EV gets a slight redesign to accomodate the fully electric powertrain, but otherwise retains the same boxy dimensions of its hybrid counterpart. It comes equipped with a 58.9kWh LFP battery connected to a single electric motor rated at 208hp and 288Nm of torque.

Jaecoo declares an NEDC range of 461km for this setup, as well as a 30% to 80% charging time of 28 minutes with a DC fast charger. With the lack of an engine, the J5 EV also gains a 35-liter frunk. Vehicle-to-load capabilities also come standard for powering gadgets and equipment.

Exclusive to the ‘Max’ variant are luxuries like the power tailgate, panoramic glass roof, and soft-touch interior materials. Curtain airbags and the 19-point ADAS suite are also exclusives to this higher variant. As of writing, prices for either trim have not been made available just yet. However, reservations are already open, with a P20,000 discount off the final price for getting your name in the books early.

For now, we’ll have to wait for an official price confirmation. But with the J5 SHS-H priced as an entry-level hybrid option, it can be speculated that the J5 EV will also be competitively priced, this time for the all-electric crossover market. What price would be right for an EV like this? Let us know in the comments.
