Earlier this year, Jetour introduced a new ‘Executive’ variant to the T1 Lightning i-DM, an alternative package for the rugged-looking PHEV SUV. Now, the Chinese brand appears to be adding yet another trim to the lineup called the ‘Pro’ as per LTO homologation papers.
At a glance, it’s hard to see what’s new with the Pro trim. It has the same 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine churning 140hp mated to a 201hp electric motor. It’s also got the same measurements: 4,705mm long, 1,967mm wide, and 1,843mm tall with 160mm of ground clearance—same as the Executive trim.

With the Pro’s vital specs being identical to existing variants, how exactly does it differ from the others? We can’t say for certain with just the LTO papers, but there is talk that this new trim offers less amenities. The T1 Lightning i-DM is a well-equipped package as it is, so skipping features to offer a more affordable option could be Jetour’s play here.

For starters, it could lose some luxuries like the sunroof and leather upholstery. Jetour could also opt out of the power seat adjustment and the power tailgate—features that manufacturers typically skip in entry-level models. The challenge for Jetour here is to carefully choose the right features to exclude, and keep the ones that its customers find essential.

As of writing, the T1 Lightning i-DM Executive stickers for P1,898,000. We speculate that the pared-down Pro could slot below that, introducing a new starting price for the PHEV SUV’s lineup. If Jetour prices it right, it could present a compelling new option for buyers in the market.
