JMC Philippines has officially introduced its all-electric lineup to the local market with two new electric cars. The JMEV EV2 and EV3 are now on Philippine soil, with a pending release date for sometime this year.

These compact EVs are set to go head-to-head with the likes of the BYD Seagull, VinFast VF3, and Jetour Ice Cream. Within that competition, we can expect prices to start in the range of P700,000 for the EV2, and just under P1 million for the EV3.

The smaller EV2 (pictured below) is advertised with a driving range of 201km, while the EV3 should be good for 330km. Both EVs are touted as comfortable five-seaters with adjustable cargo space and punchy single-motor setups.

Regarding those motors, the EV2 packs a 26kW permanent magnet synchronous motor that can output 84Nm of torque, while the EV3 is powered by a larger 50kW motor that can make 125Nm.

JMCP has yet to give an official date on when the books will open for these EVs. Last month, the Chinese carmaker teased another EV that looked like an electrified version of its Grand Avenue pickup. Since then, we have not heard any updates or announcements regarding this potential release.

While JMC’s bread and butter are still commercial trucks, it will be interesting to see how the brand will approach the passenger EV market. The JMEV lineup has the potential to be a fresh and accessible way to reach an entirely new demographic.
