After landing on Philippine shores earlier last month, the JMEV 2 and 3 from Chinese carmaker JMC are now available for preselling. While prices are still being finalized, the smaller EV2 is expected to sticker for around P660,000, and the bigger but still compact EV3 will likely fall between P780,000 and P800,000 in price.
Both these subcompact EVs undercut the reigning BYD Seagull in price, but the real proof will be in their performance. That will, of course, require a full review and some extensive driving time to determine. But still, after testing EVs like the Dongfeng Nanobox and the Jetour Ice Cream, it will be interesting to see what JMC Philippines will bring to this growing table of subcompact EVs.

On paper, the JMEV 2 packs a 26kW motor, powered by a 15.86kWh battery. That powertrain then outputs 84Nm of torque and can drive for an advertised 201km. JMCP also boasts that this 3,500mm long EV has 14 storage compartments spread throughout the cabin, and a deep 105-liter trunk. Not bad for a tiny, four-seater.
The bigger EV3 is actually just around 200cm longer than its even more compact sibling. However, those 200mm were used to fit in a larger 50kW motor and 31.15kWh battery. With its power capacity almost doubled, the EV3 makes an even more capable 125Nm of torque and a longer, 330km driving range. Cargo storage as well has been bumped up 177 liters, and the EV3 can even accommodate another passenger, making it a five-seater.
