The Tokyo Motor Show is back! Well, sort of. As a sign of the times it is now called the Japan Mobility Show. But it has the same spirit, same venue, and same exciting concepts.
The first presentation belonged to Toyota. The Japanese carmaker already previewed several models ahead of the motor show, and you can read them here. But one star of the show was already unveiled.

Called the Toyota FT-Se, it is a high-performance BEV (battery electric vehicle) under the Toyota Gazoo Racing division. That means it promises racing excitement as well as zero emissions. It wasn't that long ago that those two descriptions couldn't exist under one car model.
The FT-Se (the 'FT' means 'Future Toyota') is a stunner. Low and compact, it looks every bit the sports car with its big wheels, rakish hood, sexy side profile, and stylish headlights.
The cockpit is fully digital, with intuitive controls for a better driving experience. They designed the instrument panel to be low for a better view for the driver. And one feature I like is the kneepads to help the driver in cornering.

Rumor is this will be the new MR2, a classic Toyota sports car. Is Toyota undergoing a sports car renaissance with the Supra, the rumored Celica, and now this? We're not complaining.
