While our market has just welcomed back the presence of Kia (and along with it, an updated Sportage), the Korean carmaker has already introduced yet another facelift of its compact crossover, this time in the US. The 2020 Sportage has just debuted at this year’s Chicago Auto Show.

The aesthetic changes are minor, though they do give the vehicle’s design a touch more athleticism. Some of the tweaks include a slightly smaller grille and air intake up front, artsy new alloy wheels underneath, and a redesigned rear bumper and taillights in the back. There’s also a new Steel Gray color option.

Inside, you get the option of Sofino leatherette seats, plus a new steering wheel and vent bezels. An eight-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay comes standard.

In the US, engine options for the 2020 Sportage are a 2.4-liter gasoline with 181hp and 237Nm, and a 2.0-liter turbo with 240hp and 353Nm (ours is an all-diesel lineup). Drivetrain options are either front- or all-wheel drive. The model’s safety features include lane-keeping assist, smart cruise control, and high-beam assist.

The new Sportage is set to go on sale in the US in the first half of this year. Would you like to see this facelift in the Philippines?
