It’s not everyday you see an original Mazda MX-5 in such pristine condition. In all its shiny, red glory, the Miata has captured the hearts of the general driving public since its launch back in 1989. And it seems to have attracted every kind of gearhead—from the daily drivers, to the avid collectors, and to the chop shop modifiers.
This is what makes finding a classic Miata so exciting. As the tiny roadster has fallen into the hands of every kind of driver over the years, the secondhand market is immensely diverse, and completely unpredictable.
To have an original, red Mazda MX-5, in mostly stock condition, with a decent number of miles on it would be a fever dream. And that dream came true after an auction from Cars & Bids.

Recently sold for $22,750 (around P1.329 million), an original Mazda MX-5 NA was put up for auction, and had Miata-dreamers jumping for joy. This MX-5 is completely stock, say for an aftermarket stereo that was installed at the Mazda dealership when it was purchased back in the ’90s
The car has no history of any major accidents, or there are only a few imperfections over the body—if you really went looking. The red hard top looks immaculate, and the black soft top is in perfect condition. The headlights pop out like brand-new, and the tailights around back work as normal.
Inside, purists will be happy to find a gearshift to a five-speed manual transmission. The rest of interior is clean for a 35-year old car with only a few signs of its age. Purists might not like the head unit affixed below the climate control knobs, but the odometer might just seal the deal for them.
After 35 years, this MX-5 has only run 4,810 miles (7,740km). Now, that is something you don’t see too often at all. That low mileage hopefully means that the engine hasn’t been too stressed out.
If there is a cleaner original Mazda MX-5, please send it our way because this just might be the best one out there. It is unclear why the original owner put it up for auction, but judging by the looks of the car, we definitely know it was lovingly driven, and taken care of.
