In the last couple of months, Mercedes has unveiled new versions of the GLA, the GLB, the GLC and the GLE. Must have been a busy stint for the designers, but then again, that’ll teach them for penning so many SUVs.

Anyway, the final pieces of this particularly large puzzle have now fallen into place, because this is the updated GLS, which arrives alongside its monstrous AMG and Maybach siblings.

The changes are fairly limited, with the standard GLS getting a more prominent grille with extra air intakes and seriously chunky horizontal bars running across it. The AMG GLS also comes with a forged wheel option, and its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 is now fitted with a 48-volt mild hybrid system that acts as a starter motor and gives a 22hp boost to the already ridiculous 604hp engine.

Further updates to the AMG include another new LED rear light signature and two new paint colours, while the standard equipment list grows to include an electric panoramic sliding sunroof, heated and cooled front seats, an AMG sports exhaust system, a fancy Burmester sound system and Merc’s 360-degree Parking Pilot.

So there we have it folks, that’s all of Merc’s standard SUV range updated (not including the EVs or the G-Wagen).
