We’ve not seen anything this cute since Fiat launched the roofless Topolino. Say konnichiwa to the MiBot, which comes to you via the medium of Japanese startup KG Motors.
Some 26 centimeters narrower than a Citroen Ami, the dinky EV is less than 1.5 meters tall, just over 1.1 meters wide, and a smidgen under 2.5 meters long—basically the size of a cereal box. A single-seater cereal box with a monocoque body, tiny 12-inch rims, an electric range of 100km, a maximum speed of 60kph (faster than the Ami’s 45kph), and a battery that recharges in about five hours.

You can park it anywhere, of course (because look at it), and carry up to 45kg of cargo (cereal?), while the MiBot offers such luxuries as a heated seat, a touchscreen, some speakers, and fancy glass that protects you from baking like a croissant. Plus, there’s aircon!

The Mobilize Bento-rivaling EV—similarly primed for short journeys and solo errand-running—has undergone rigorous winter testing and safety checks, though videos of it cornering are worryingly reminiscent of the Mk1 Fiat Seicento.

It launched with a price of only ¥1,100,000 (around P425,000 before taxes), and the Hiroshima-based manufacturer has already taken over 2,200 preorders, up from the modest 300 it had originally planned. The company is now revising its production schedule.
Yep, you want one. Let the global kei-car takeover commence.
