The current-generation Mitsubishi Delica D:5 is forbidden that we never got here. Despite that, it has gained fans around the world, the Philippines included. It’s a van we’d love to get here, but the chances of it ever coming here are practically zero given that Mitsubishi is hard at work at the next-gen model.
Despite the current model’s age and an all-new model coming in a few years, Mitsubishi still isn’t done with the present D:5. That’s because the company has unveiled a new variant for the van called the Chamonix.

For some folks, the variant name might be familiar. Mitsubishi used that in the past for the previous versions of the Delica. Some of them even ended up here are surplus units at the height of the Subic/Cagayan operations.

Like the past Chamonix edition Delicas, the new one gets several goodies that are exclusive to this variant. For starters, it gets water-repellant seats, which should be good news for those into water sports. Burr walnut trim is also included, along with smatterings of Chamonix badges on the outside.

Speaking of the outside, there are a few more details that separate the Chamonix from the standard Mitsubishi Delica. Its alloy wheels are painted black, plus it gets an exclusive grille design. A skid plate finished in titanium black and black foglight bezels wrap up the variant’s exclusive features. A power retractable stepboard is optional

The Chamonix optional accessories are of interest too. You can add black light ambient lighting in it that compliments the model-specific floormats. There’s also a decal package that adds green and camouflage highlights on the van’s body.
Mechanically, it’s the same as the standard version. It uses the same four-wheel drive system, as well as the engine. The Delica is powered by a 2.3-liter MIVEC turbodiesel engine that produces 174hp and 380Nm of torque. The sole transmission choice is an eight-speed automatic.
