Recently, we took some snaps of the facelifted Mitsubishi Montero Sport being transported along STAR Tollway. With that, it seems that the company looks set to bring stocks of these to local showrooms.
This time around, we got the possible prices for the updated version. Along with that, there are a few changes to the variant list.

According to sources, the GT models are no more. In its place are Black Series variants in both 2WD and 4WD forms. However, the entry-level versions remain, namely the GLX 2WD (manual) or GLS 2WD (automatic). The GLS variant does get a safety upgrade. The new model now gets side and curtain airbags, a welcome addition to the entry-level automatic variant.
From base to top-spec, all get a new grille, slightly reshaped bumpers, and a three-spoke steering wheel. Only the Black Edition models come with a tailgate spoiler, while an illuminated grille is standard from the GLS and up. Also changed is the touchscreen display audio, although the GLX and GLS keep the analog instrument cluster.
Unlike the Thai-market Pajero Sport, the Philippine-spec Montero Sport units retain the 4N15 MIVEC diesel engine. With that, power ratings are carried over from before. It’s still at 179hp and 430Nm of torque. The local models also keep the eight-speed automatic instead of the new Triton-derived six-speed unit. We’re not expecting any more mechanical changes to the SUV, regardless of variant.
And now, for the part you’re (probably) waiting for, the prices. Per sources, the GLX keeps its base price, but the rest get an adjustment. For reference, see the list below.

- Montero Sport GLX 2.4D 2WD — P1,568,000
- Montero Sport GLS 2.4D 2WD — P1,899,000
- Montero Sport Black Series 2.4D 2WD — P2,110,000
