We’ve spied it back in January and got up close to it during the Bangkok International Motor Show. Now, it’s finally getting launched in the Philippines. We are, of course, talking about the new Isuzu MU-X.
Yes folks, the significantly updated SUV is finally coming to the country, and the launch date has been locked in, too. Ladies and gentlemen, set your calendars on April 4, 2025. Took a while, yes?

It may have taken nearly four months, but at least we know it’s coming here. That said, Isuzu hasn’t said much about its impending launch. They did release a teaser, not that we need one at this point. The announcement is very much appreciated, though.

Unlike the last facelift, a lot more has been done to the Isuzu MU-X this time around. As seen in the spy shots and our Bangkok story, the car will sport a redesigned front end with a new grille, bumper, and headlight elements. At the same time, it will have a different set of tail lights over at the back. But the more important question is if we will get the RS variant.

The RS variant is new for this model. Aimed at the likes of the Fortuner LTD, Montero Sport Black Series, and Terra Sport, it’s a sportier exterior and interior trim package with high specification. Given that, there’s a strong chance of it coming here.
From what we saw in Bangkok, we’re expecting several improvements for the local version. Aside from the exterior changes mentioned, there’s the new digital instrument cluster, larger infotainment screen, and interior color options. Also, this model will switch from hydraulic power steering to electric power steering. That should make steering effort a little bit lighter with a relatively heavy effort needed for the current version.

Because of that change, Isuzu was able to add more features to its advanced driver assists. The 2025 MU-X fitted with that gain lane keep assist on top of lane departure warning. We expect that it be added to the local version. Fingers crossed we finally get a rear differential lock for the 4x4 model, too.
For engines, the updated 3.0-liter is sure to come here. It still makes 189hp and 450Nm, but Isuzu claims enhancements for efficiency and emissions. What isn’t confirmed is the base engine. Locally, we could continue with the familiar 1.9-liter RZ4E with 148hp and 350Nm, but we’re hoping for the new MaxForce 2.2-liter that makes 161hp and 400Nm.
