The new and improved Mazda 6 has been revealed ahead of its local debut at the 2018 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), bringing more comfort, style, and performance to one of the market’s most prominent midsize sedans.
First, let’s take a look at the engine updates. The 2.2-liter SkyActiv diesel gets an improved turbocharger, allowing it to produce 187hp and 450Nm of torque compared to 173hp and 420Nm in the previous model. Meanwhile, the 2.5-liter SkyActiv gasoline is now capable of 187hp and 252Nm compared to 184hp and 250Nm in the outgoing version.
Outside, the changes are a little more subtle: A new grille up front, an updated 19in wheel designs, and adjusted chrome trim under the headlights. The new sedan also comes with adaptive LED headlights.
Mazda Philippines says the latest iteration of the 6 boasts improved NVH levels thanks to thicker floor panels and wheel housings, and less gaps between the body panels and interior. This results in a significant reduction in tire noise, the company says.
Finally, the interior gets a nicer trim courtesy of premium materials like nappa leather, satin chrome, and wood. The update also endows the 6 with ventilated seats, a larger 8in Mazda Connect infotainment screen, a 7in LCD gauge display, and a frameless rearview mirror.
No prices have been released yet. Mazda Philippines says we’ll have to wait for the model’s official launch at PIMS 2018. If you want to check this vehicle out in the metal, you’ll definitely want to drop by. See you there?
