The Nissan Patrol Super Safari has been around for quite a while now—a whopping 38 years, to be precise. That's nearly four decades of the legendary 4x4 plowing through mud, sand and inhospitable terrain which would leave most vehicles crippled.
That's a long time, which is why it hurts so much for us to say that production of the model is finally coming to an end. On the bright side, the Patrol is going out with a bang as the Japanese carmaker is making 38 units of the Nissan Patrol 'Legend Edition' available here in the Philippines.
The Legend Edition comes equipped with rugged accessories in line with its off-road heritage, including a protective bull bar, 18-inch matte black alloy wheels, additional decals, and a tow kit. Nissan has also added a roof basket capable of holding heavy equipment. The interior comes with plush tan leather seats and door trims, as well as a serialized badge to set it apart from 'regular' Patrol units.
Powering the vehicle is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine capable of 150hp and 343Nm, mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The Patrol Legend Edition is available in pearl black and polar white, and carries a price tag of P2,995,000.
Nissan Philippines president Ramesh Narasimhan says that the company is ending the vehicle's production on a high note with the release of the Legend Edition, adding that the carmaker will continue to innovate and add new models to its current lineup.
Again, only 38 units are available. It's been an epic run both on and off the road. If you're a fan of the nameplate, this might be your last chance at owning one before it rides off into the sunset.
