The all-new Subaru WRX and WRX STI are available only as sedans, a return to form after a brief dalliance with hatchback versions for the previous-generation models. For those who prefer the five-door hot hatch to the classic four-door sedan, there may still be hope though.
According to Motoring.com.au, WRX project general manager Masuo Takatsu confirmed with the media outlet that a hatchback WRX is still possible.
"We have received strong interest from the US, where the hatchback was 50% [of previous-generation WRX sales], so we're now considering," Takatsu reportedly said.
Takatsu added that Subaru's limited engineering resources forced the Japanese carmaker to forgo the development of the WRX hatchback and the slushbox-equipped WRX STI.
So, do you fancy a WRX hatchback or perhaps an automatic-transmission WRX STI? Make your opinion count.
