It was announced earlier this year that the SsangYong Musso will enter the Philippine market. Details of the actual date of availability or even the specs were not shared at the time, but at the Philippine International Motor Show 2018 (PIMS), SsangYong Philippines will officially introduce its contender for the midsize-pickup battle.
The Musso, which was previously available on the local market in SUV form, will be powered by a 2.2-liter turbodiesel mill that puts out 179hp at 4,000rpm and 420Nm at 1,400-2,800rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed Aisin automatic transmission.
The rear suspension, meanwhile, is a five-link setup. SsangYong Philippines has also shared that the pickup will be available only with a 4x2 drivetrain—for now, at least.
Inside, the second row reclines by up to 27 degrees. The seats are wrapped in brown nappa leather, with the front seats boasting ventilation and both the front and back seats boasting heating. You can enjoy playing Momoland’s ‘Boom Boom’ on repeat using the Android Auto or Apple CarPlay feature of the entertainment system.
The SsangYong Musso enters our market with an SRP of P1,495,000. So what do you guys think—is it a solid option to the segment’s usual contenders?
