We’re pretty sure you’ve seen the all-new version of the Subaru Forester. The sixth-generation model made its premiere in the US back in November 2023 with production commencing this year.
But even though the all-new model has been revealed, the outgoing version still has some life left in it. Over in Malaysia, a new variant has been introduced. Dubbed the GT Wild Lite Edition, it’s Southeast Asia’s take on the Wilderness Editon offered in North American markets.

No, it doesn’t get the off-road goodies from the US/Canadian Wilderness models, hence the ‘Lite’ in its name. It’s also worth pointing out that the appearance package is to be installed in dealerships after the purchase of the standard model.
What’s been added to this particular Forester? The most obvious would be those mountain range graphics splashed all over the flanks of the crossover. It’s not what anyone would call subtle, but the GT Wild Lite would like to emphasize its adventurous intentions.

The matte black hood isn’t just for aesthetics, apparently. It’s an anti-glare hood decal that should come in handy driving in the middle of the day. Exclusive to this model are the 18-inch GT alloys, while those Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires should help it claw its way up the rough stuff.
As for the rest of the car, all the features and trim from the other variants are carried over. Symmetrical all-wheel drive is standard, along with the X Mode terrain select system, SI Drive modes, and the Subaru EyeSight advanced driver assist system. The latest version of EyeSight adds autonomous emergency steering on top of the other features such as adaptive cruise and autonomous emergency braking.

The engine remains to be a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder boxer engine that puts out 154hp and 196Nm of torque. It then shifts with a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission.
Given that Motor Image also handles the distribution of Subaru vehicles in Malaysia, there might be a chance that this version of the Subaru Forester will land here.
