Subaru has announced yet another special edition WRX not named the STI. The WRX Todoroki is the latest addition to Subaru's performance line, and this one might be a bit more difficult to procure than some of the others.
Coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the WRX, this new variant will only be released in New Zealand. And to make things even more interesting, Subaru will be producing just 10 of them.

It starts with a base model: a six-speed manual transmission WRX. It’s worth noting that the standard manual WRX is not available in New Zealand, making the WRX Todoroki a way for Kiwis to obtain a manual WRX without going through the leaps and bounds of car importing or modification.
The car is then fitted with matte gray 19-inch alloy wheels in Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires, with six-piston Brembo brakes in the front and two-piston Brembo brakes at the back. Sticking on those brakes are ventilated and drilled brake discs. Drivers are also treated to Recaro front seats, and dual-pinion electric power steering—optimising the suspension’s springs and dampers.

For fellow Subaru fans who long for a new WRX STI, this might be as close as we’ll get. The WRX Todoroki sports an STI-style rear spoiler, and the 10 future owners of a Todoroki will also receive an STI watch. Despite the bitterness over the non-existent WRX STI, we have to admit that that was a nice touch.

The WRX Todoroki will be sold at a price of $64,990 NZD (around P2.3 million). Would you pick one up? Probably not us—we’re still hoping that a new WRX STI is actually coming in the future.
