Remember the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe concept? The German carmaker wowed the world last year with a swoopy four-door coupe-cum-SUV that looked poised to rival the BMW X4. Well, the battle is about to begin.

Mercedes-Benz has just announced that the GLC Coupe will soon hit the production floor. At launch, the model will be offered in three engine variants: the GLC220d 4Matic Coupe, the GLC250d 4Matic Coupe, and the lone gasoline version, the GLC250 4Matic Coupe. These choices have outputs ranging from a low of 136hp, all the way to a peak of 367hp. If these versions don’t suit your fancy, you might want to hold out for the plug-in hybrid or the potent Mercedes-AMG variant.

Either way, each one will come with a host of standard or optional equipment that promises the utmost in comfort, luxury and driving pleasure. These niceties include an Easy Pack tailgate, 18-inch alloy wheels, Keyless-Go, and Artico upholstery, just to name a few. Safety also takes top priority here, with stuff like collision prevention assist plus, headlamp assist, attention assist, and dynamic cornering assist.

The shapely exterior is backed up by a sporty yet luxurious driving experience, says Mercedes-Benz. This is taken care of by the 9G-Tronic gearbox that features Dynamic Select driving modes for customizable levels of feel and feedback behind the wheel. The sports steering coupled with the sporty suspension setup helps provide a more enjoyable time, whether tackling corners or simply cruising down the autobahn. There is even an available dynamic body control or air body control suspension setup for the ultimate in ride comfort and handling.

For those who want a bit more exclusivity to their already upscale GLC Coupe, Mercedes-Benz will be offering the Edition 1. This model adds goodies like 20-inch wheels, bichromatic leather trims, and the AMG or Night Package.

But even if it is the “regular” GLC Coupe, we can’t wait until this model reaches our shores. Truth be told, we’re glad Mercedes-Benz retained most of the concept-car bits. It’s really one good-looking ride.
