A little over a month ago, we posted a story here about a Bangkok Post piece in which the Thai newspaper seemed to believe that an obviously digitally manipulated image of an SUV was that of the new Isuzu Alterra, now called MU-X in Thailand. The image turned out to be fake, of course.
What you now see here, however, is the real deal. Isuzu Thailand has finally unveiled the official new Alterra/MU-X, the proof of which you can find on the company\'s Thai-language website. This introduction of the midsize SUV\'s new model comes two years after the new D-Max pickup was launched to the Thai public. The new Alterra, as before, is based on the latest D-Max.
And because Isuzu Thailand\'s website doesn\'t have an English-language version (as far as we can tell), we can\'t tell you much about the new Alterra. What we can pass on to you is the fact that the new SUV is available with two engines: a 2.5-liter mill that puts out 136hp and 320Nm of torque, and a 3.0-liter powerplant that produces 177hp and 380Nm of torque, both of which are equipped with variable-geometry turbochargers.
If the new Alterra\'s overall shape looks familiar, that\'s because it\'s essentially a rebodied Chevrolet Trailblazer, much like how the D-Max is the Chevrolet Colorado with a different face and rear. The new Alterra even utilizes the American carmaker\'s Electronic Drive Mode Select system, which Isuzu calls Terrain Command.
Is the new Alterra\'s exterior design stylish enough for you?
