The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ has officially launched in Thailand at the 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show, signaling that it will debut in the Philippines sooner rather than later. Its local release was confirmed by Toyota Motor Philippines in January, and FJ diehards can expect the SUV later this year.
The new FJ will also be the first Land Cruiser model to be fully assembled in Thailand. From there, it will be exported to at least 60 global markets, including the Philippines. The body-on-frame platform is the same one that underpins the super-short-wheelbase Tamaraw, which has yet to enter the local market.

Outfitted with a part-time 4WD system, the Land Cruiser FJ makes use of the existing 2TR-FE 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine from the larger Fortuner. It is rated at 164hp and 245Nm of torque, and mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Inside, the layout looks similar to what you’d find in a current-generation Land Cruiser 250 and the recently released RAV4. The wide-gap steering wheel is complemented by black synthetic leather upholstery and a 12.3-inch main screen.
While the new FJ is around 185mm shorter than the Fortuner in terms of overall length, it can still hold up to 765 liters in the rear cargo area. With the second row folded down, the available space expands to 1,522 liters.

Toyota showcased the versatility of its smaller Land Cruiser through a series of builds at the BIMS 2026. The concepts used genuine accessories from the Japanese carmaker, as well as nostalgic heritage styling. These include snorkels, garnishes, and roof racks, along with the iconic Sandy Taupe finish (pictured below). We’ll do a separate story on that, so stay tuned.
