VinFast Philippines is officially here and they say they’re here to stay. With a four-car, full-EV range, it’s a bold move for Vietnam’s first-ever car company.

We’ve covered the four models that VinFast will sell here. To recap, it’s the VFe34, VF5, VF7, and the flagship VF9. But if that wasn’t enough, the company also had a bit of a surprise during the brand launch.

VinFast has confirmed that it will bring in the VF3 to the Philippine market. Yes, that boxy little electric SUV will be sold in the country after all. There are no specifics just yet, but we’re taking the company’s word for it.

For now, though, we'll base some facts off the global spec sheet. The VinFast VF3 is easily the smallest vehicle in company’s lineup. At just 3,190mm long, 1,679mm wide, 1,622mm tall, and with a wheelbase of 2,075mm, it’s even smaller than Suzuki Jimny.

In terms of design, it takes cues from classic SUVs condensed in a pint-sized package. Squared-off fenders are present, and so are box-flared arches. Black cladding further beefs up the exterior.

Inside, it’s a study in minimalism. There’s just a single screen on the dash and it appears to both handle the infotainment system and vehicle status such as speed and charge. Despite the diminutive exterior dimensions, VinFast says five people can fit inside this EV.

Powering the VF3 is a single electric motor that powers the rear wheels. It churns out 43hp and 110Nm of torque. Providing energy to that motor is an 18.64kWh battery that gives it an estimated range of up to 210km. By VinFast’s reckoning, it takes 36 minutes to get from 10 to 70 percent with a fast charger.

As mentioned, there is no official debut date just yet. But given that VinFast Philippines made it official, it's safe to say the automaker is working on bringing it here as soon as it can.
