Volvo XC90 to arrive in PH by April

Our big bellies are still full from the sublime buffet courtesy of Volvo Philippines. The Swedish carmaker’s official distributor is celebrating its 20th year here in the Philippines, and one way it commemorated the occasion was by holding an intimate lunch for the media today.

Before we attacked the sumptuous spread, we got to chat with the president of Volvo Philippines, Atty. Albert Arcilla. He was very excited about his company’s events next year, foremost of which is the launch of the all-new Volvo XC90. Arcilla said the target date for the SUV's arrival is the second quarter of 2015.

Since we’ve had these kinds of conversations with other execs before, we asked if the XC90 would be launched locally at the 2015 Manila International Auto Show. (From another source, we also found out that next year’s MIAS will be held on April 9-12.) Arcilla confirmed that the MIAS is his company’s target date, but added that it will depend on whether the SUV’s shipment will arrive in time.

We hope Volvo Philippines’ plans push through. We’re excited to see if the amazing triple-turbo engine will be fitted in our market’s XC90.

It looks like the second week of April 2015 is promising to be an exciting period for the automotive industry.
