The Philippines served as the entry point of the latest Mercedes-Benz E-Class to Southeast Asia.
"As a testament to the country's stable economy during today's economic meltdown, and with the great work CATS Motors has done for Mercedes-Benz, we thought it would be a great gesture to have the Philippines as the first Southeast Asian country to launch the E-Class," said Daimler Southeast Asia president and chief executive Wolfgang Huppenbauer.
The new E-Class, internally designated within Mercedes-Benz as model W212, has a styling that's an evolution of its predecessor.
The E-Class carries the tagline "Engineered Around You" as Mercedes-Benz said the car was not merely built. It was designed and created skillfully and creatively around its buyers: those with impeccable taste, high expectations and good judgment.
True to its tagline, the new E-Class bears features to improve one's driving experience with the Adaptive Main Beam Assist that automatically lowers the headlight's aim to prevent the oncoming traffic from being blinded by it, and the Attention Assist system which monitors the driver's attention level and warns him or her in good time through audible and visual alerts.
The new E-Class comes with the standard 16-inch alloy wheels, a four-spoke multifunction steering leather steering wheel with chrome inserts, an Audio 20 CD infotainment system with eight speakers and a Bluetooth interface for mobile phones.
For the discerning individual who'd like to have more than just the standard E-Class amenities, there are three trims to choose from.
The Avantgarde has a contemporary yet innovative look with its 17-inch five twin-spoke alloy wheels, a sporty front bumper, and a special interior color scheme of chestnut brown and natural beige with black roof lining.
The Elegance trim emphasizes the elegant and classic character of the E-Class with chrome strips on the front and rear bumpers and sides, a chromed radiator grille with four louvres painted in silver, and a brown high-gloss burr walnut wood interior trim.
As for the AMG sports package, the dynamic character of the saloon is displayed through the 18-inch five twin-spoke alloys, larger brake discs, leather three-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters, a lowered sports suspension, brushed stainless steel sports pedals, and AMG front and rear aprons and side skirts.
The E300 Elegance is priced at P4.980 million, the E300 Avantgarde at P5.280 million, and the top-of-the line E300 Avantgarde AMG Sports is at P5.680 million.
