Chevrolet Sonic hatchback

Early this month, we announced here that Chevrolet Philippines (aka The Covenant Car Company Inc.) had quietly brought in the Sonic subcompact sedan, with prices pegged at  P778,888 (MT) and P828,888 (AT). Well, the American carmaker's distributor has just informed us that the pricing for the Sonic hatchback is now available as well.

According to the company, the Sonic hatchback will be "available for delivery third week of October," and that it will sell for P788,888 for the manual transmission and P838,888 for the automatic transmission. In other words, the hatchback will be exactly P10,000 more expensive than the sedan. The Sonic, as you know, is powered by a 1.4-liter Ecotec engine that benefits from Chevrolet's double continuously variable cam-timing system.

Chevrolet Philippines president and managing director Atty. Albert Arcilla describes the new Sonic as the perfect car for the modern-day Filipino hero.

"Chevrolet acknowledges that Filipinos of today are everyday heroes who strive to attain excellence and success for themselves and their family," he says. "We are pertaining to the young couple who works more than eight hours a day but never neglects the needs of their children; the hands-on entrepreneur who does multiple tasks and maximizes every minute to ensure the success of the business; the newly promoted manager who takes full accountability for his work and never lets his team and family down. Basically, they are what we call the modern-day super heroes. To reward them, we offer a vehicle that complements their strengths, versatility and impressive characteristics: the all-new Chevrolet Sonic."
