We were invited to the opening of the 2013 Bangkok International Auto Salon last week. The aftermarket show, which is being held at Challenger Halls 2 and 3 of the Impact Muang Thong Thani complex, will run until June 30.
Officially licensed from the Tokyo Auto Salon, the Bangkok Auto Salon is now being billed as the \"largest aftermarket and car-customization show in the ASEAN region\" in only its second year. And thanks to the support of the organizers of the Tokyo Auto Salon, some of the cars that were on display earlier this year in Japan have found their way to Thailand.
The main difference between the regular Bangkok Motor Show and this one, of course, is that the Bangkok Auto Salon caters to the aftermarket industry, whereas the more established (and much older) car show in Thailand focuses on the stock offerings of the auto industry. Hence, you will mostly see modded and souped-up rides at the Auto Salon. Think of it as the static version of Fast & Furious.
So, if you happen to be in Bangkok this week, we suggest you drop by the Bangkok Auto Salon. It\'s like going to the Tokyo Auto Salon, minus the exorbitant expenses and the hassle of obtaining a visa.
Of course, we know that most of you won\'t be able to physically visit the exhibit. Not to worry: We\'ve selected 20 images of what we feel are the most visually appealing cars on display this year. Enjoy!
