Marikina residents can now look forward to a newer, larger and better-equipped Toyota dealership facility in their area after Toyota Motor Philippines officially held the ground-breaking ceremony for a new showroom in the city earlier this week.
A handful of Toyota executives and partners were present for the event, including TMP president Satoru Suzuki and Metrobank Group vice chairman Antonio Abacan Jr. The new Toyota Marikina will be one of five Toyota dealerships under the joint venture between GT Capital Holdings and Mitsui & Co. Ltd.
The new facility will sit on a 5,000sqm plot of land along Sumulong Highway, at the corner of Mayor Gil Fernando Street. Upon completion, the structure will be four storeys tall with a total floor area of 11,000sqm. It will house a 700sqm showroom, as well as more modern offices, warehousing space, servicing and parking facilities, and larger amenities for guests and customers.
The company is hinging the dealership's success on the city's wealth and potential for motorization. Earlier this year, we reported that TMP is targeting to sell 150,000 units in 2016 and 200,000 units in 2020. At the rate its dealerships are sprouting all over the country, it looks like those goals are well within reach.
