Global automotive aftermarket fair Automechanika Jakarta recently held its inaugural event at the Nusantara International Convention Exhibition in Indonesia. The show took place from September 24-27, 2026, and hosted over 339 exhibitors from 15 countries.
This comes as the 16th showcase from the Automechanika brand and its organizers, Messe Frankfurt. If you’ve read Top Gear Philippines managing editor Leandre Grecia’s experience at Automechanika Frankfurt, then you’ll have a general idea of what we experienced in Jakarta.
The show itself is much more condensed, with those 339 vendors covering only about 20,000sqm. However, that is not to say that the show was lacking. The convention center was filled to the brim with oil filters, brake pads, and other similar aftermarket products.

All around the showroom floor, there were familiar brands like Varta, Brembo, and Pirelli, set up right next to brands from China, Indonesia, and other Asian countries. There was a healthy mix of distributors and direct OEMs, along with what looked like start-ups getting their businesses off the ground.
It was definitely an overwhelming sight—I had never seen so many brake pads under one roof—but it goes to show that the automotive industry is more intricate than one may think. And due to Indonesia’s emerging EV industry, many of the scheduled activities and booths focused on products for electrified vehicles. These included battery diagnostic technology and aftersales service for EVs.
To break down those complications within the industry, the event also hosted several talks, workshops, and panels to discuss ongoing trends. These ranged from domestic manufacturing, the global supply chain, and all the way to best practices in wheel alignment.
Visitors and participants even got to put their learnings into practice at the Xperience Zone. There, interactive booths for detailing, dent repair, and the like were set up for anyone to try. Moreover, several other vendors also had engaging displays with live demonstrations of their scratch-repair solution and tire-repair equipment.
While events like Automechanika are typically for businesses looking for partners and suppliers, there were a couple of surprises that any gearhead would have enjoyed. Over the weekend, the event hosted a Slalom Test, along with service stations for basic check-ups. There was also a decent car display, with dressed-up JDM classics and a few special Euros. Not to mention racing simulators right next to the food court.
Funnily enough, those special cars were positioned right next to a long column of ball bearing and chain suppliers. It was inspiring to see decked-out cars sat behind the thousands of components that make them up—spread throughout a wide exhibition hall, no less. While Automechanika Jakarta is definitely geared toward business-to-business engagements, there is still a bit of something for everyone.
