Residents and visitors of Valenzuela City will soon be seeing a fleet of BYD electric vehicles patrol the streets. The local government of Valenzuela City has teamed up with BYD Cars Philippines and ACMobility to make use of 41 BYD Dolphin units as part of its police car lineup.
It doesn’t look like the 2025 facelifted Dolphin, but it is dressed in a mean Valenzuela City Police livery. And with police lights mounted on top, these BYD Dolphin units get a more authoritative look but still with an adorable stance. Moreover, ACMobility will continue this collaboration by setting up a whopping 22 EV chargers all over the city.

We could be seeing more local government units (LGU) follow suit as Republic Act No. 1285, or the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA) promotes the use of EVs in government operations. According to BYD, this fleet of Dolphin units could also save the city of Valenzuela up to 70% of its maintenance budget over the next five years. It’s clearly a long-term plan that should pay off over time.
And for ACMobility, BYD’s local distributor, part of that long-term plan is the efficient and seamless adoption of EV use. ACMobility has then committed to deploying 20 7kW chargers and two 22kW chargers across the city of Valenzuela to ensure that the police fleet can stay powered up and ready for service at all times and in all parts of the city.
If this works out, maybe we’ll see a BYD Seal going 0-100kph in 3.8sec with the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group, who knows?
