We recently compiled all the car brands extending assistance to owners of vehicles that sustained damage during Typhoon Carina. This time, it’s BYD Philippines that’s pledging aid to those affected by the typhoon, but in a different way.

The carmaker launched its latest offering, the Sealion 6 DM-i, earlier this month—right after the typhoon hit, in fact. BYD Asia Pacific and BYD Philippines have now committed to donating $100 for every unit of the model they will sell from July 25 to December 2024, in support of typhoon victims.

“On behalf of BYD, I would like to express my sympathy to the people affected by Typhoon Carina. We, together with ACMobility, wish to extend BYD’s support to Filipinos who suffered from this unfortunate disaster,” said Liu Xueliang, auto sales division general manager BYD Asia Pacific.

In addition, local distributor ACMobility also distributed care packs assembled by employees and volunteers to over 100 affected families. The Sealion 6, which comes with vehicle-to-load functionality, served as a power source during the company’s disaster response efforts.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families affected by this calamity,” said Bob Palanca, BYD Philippines managing director. “Guided by our company value of ‘malasakit,’ we remain committed to going above and beyond in serving our communities during these trying times.”
